Contract labour
Monitor Labour, a subdivision of Monitor Hygiene, provides contract labour to the UK food industry, including: production workers, warehouse and packing staff, wash-up operatives and drivers.
Monitor treats each contract labour operation on a project management basis. We do not provide ad hoc, ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ labour.
We can take care of sourcing staff, interviews, screening, references, immigration checks, minimum wage, working time administration, employment law, payroll, transport, accommodation, induction, training, sickness and holidays – freeing you to manage your business.
We are able to provide fully ‘managed service’ solutions, where we can be focused on producing operational results beyond the supply of labour.
Contract Labour Benefits
Workers care package
On many contracts, Monitor provides a complete worker care package, including housing, transport, banking facilities, even meals
Better attendance
Where we arrange door-to-door transport, we can control attendance far better than companies that expect workers to organise their own travel
Consistency of workforce
The client commits to a core labour requirement and Monitor guarantees to staff it. Together with the worker care package, this ensures loyalty and consistency of labour, which in turn reduces the constant recruiting, vetting and training caused by high workforce turnover
Flexibility on demand
We can deal with fluctuations in clients’ labour demands by increasing or decreasing hours or workers from our core labour pool
On-site management
We are not a ‘drop and go’ agency but believe in managing the service throughout. An on-site coordinator deals with all day-to-day issues, leaving you free to focus on your core business
Attractive costing options
Because our clients make a commitment to us for their core labour requirements, we are able to offer attractive cost options, such as flat-rate charging (regardless of shift or day of the week). In many cases, we can offer a reduced rate for additional hours, in contrast with the usual premium rates for overtime
‘Foodsmart’ options
As specialists to the food industry, we are experienced in meeting the stringent requirements of the food environment. Depending on each client’s requirements, we are able to offer the following options for contract workers:
- food hygiene screened
- food hygiene trained
- food industry experienced
- foodsafe workwear
Quality Assured
Our strong quality and people culture is reinforced by ISO quality systems and Investors in People accreditations, as well as membership of REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation) and ROSPA, to ensure we keep up-to-date with safety issues. Monitor is also a registered training centre for the CIEH food hygiene and safety training schemes.
